After passing this place at least 100 times over the past 5 months since my arrival here in Aviano (beyond just the quick wine stop anyway) I have ended that with my recent stop intended on trying out some of the menu items they have to offer which I have seen many times before but either the kitchen was not yet open or, I already had dinner plans set beforehand. Tis not the case here, food I sought and food I found. Let me share with you my findings.

I came in right about 1030am on a Saturday morning at open to grab an early lunch and although the hot foods plate items from the kitchen did not start till 1130, the cold plates menu was open game. Being a hot sunny day out I was more apt for something fresh and cold anyway. My selections are shown below.

  • Bresaola plate with grana cheese and rucola
  • Dorth Salad with grape tomatoes, smoked house ham, and olives,
  • Marinated veggies side dish of cippolini, sundried tomatoes, and artichokes.
  • All washed down with a chilled glass of prosecco brute. Something I am quite partial to here.

Service is fast and kind, they speak good English and are helpful in explaining the menu items as well as the wines. The outdoor patio is the big draw for me. Open, welcoming, a nice place to sit and relax and people watch the main street of Aviano while taking in a lunch or dinner. The inside is spacious and open as well with lots of windows and lighting.

They have a big wine selection for dine-in by the glass and for purchase by the bottle as well. Most unique to FVG region. They also have a big back room for meetings and group reservation needs I never knew existed till this visit.

The daily menu for cold plates is shown here. Just big enough for variety but not so big you’re lost in a blur of options and selections. Plus that it’s offered in English to!

Next time I need to come back and try some of the many pasta dishes I here they whip up on the daily here. Safe to say this will be a regular stop for me for weekend lunch. This meal was 25 euro so a little steep but worth the quality products and the portions are generous as well.

Also, be sure to visit their sister store just a stone’s throw down the same road called Dorth Prosciutteria where any and all of their cured meats can be purchased in bulk for you to take home and enjoy anytime you want.
